Hi all,

I've got my Vapor running perfectly, and after receiving my billet protector from HDB I'm now on to installing the Trail Tech Dashboard. Has anyone else done this on a 2012 390 or equivalent, and if so, any hints on how you wired it up? Here is the cabling I have figured out so far from inspection and the manual:

High Beam - Brown & Blue
Fuel Low - Brown/Red & Yellow Blue
Turn Signal - Purple and Black
Fuel Injection - White and Orange

Wiring for the Trail Tech Dash can be seen here:

http://gallery.trailtech.net/media/instructions/barclamps/010-ELV-20.pdf

So the Trail Tech only uses 2 negative wires, not 4 as per the stock lamps, as they share a common negative across 2 lamps.

So I've got 2 questions:

1. Which of the stock cables are negative, and which are positive?
2. Why would the TT need 2 separate negatives, can I use the same source for both?

I've looked at the Husaberg manual and honestly I get confused on what is a negative cable and what is a positive. I wish they would just have a simple drawing showing all the negatives running back to the battery so it was easier for simple people like myself to understand :)

As always, thanks for your help!

Because the connector in TT isn't same as in Husaberg you have to cut it, right? And every light got two wire, I assume that the groung wires are connected only to same pin. So that way you can easily connect PDA? Brown is main ground wire in Husaberg, but indicator light are connected either beside load like high beam or directly, like EFI.

Like EFI light, manual didn't tell which is positive and which is negative, so you have to measure it. And I even think, that the polarity chance in turn signal, so if PDA have led indicators, I think you're gonna have a bad time... :(

Sorry for bad english, I'm from Finland. :D

Yes, I ended up cutting the TT connector and making my own loom to connect with the Husaberg wiring. For anyone else attempting this here are the details:

High Beam - Blue(+) Brown(-)
Fuel Level - Yellow/Blue(+) Brown/Red(-)
Turn Signal - Purple(+) Black(-)
FI Warning - Orange(+) White(-)

Thanks for posting gjws and providing the wiring assignments. A couple months ago I picked up the Trail Tech Striker and the Indicator Light Dashboard. I got it all wired up but was not sure about the Fuel Level wiring.

I have the 09 FE 450 and it did not come with the fuel sensor. I picked up and installed the sensor a while back and it worked fine. When I installed the Striker and Dashboard I thought I had it all wired up correctly. Last night I double checked the wiring for the Fuel Level and sure'nuff, I've got the wires crossed. I'll fix that and now I will know when I am low on fuel. :D

Glad I could help!

The polarity only matters if you are using the LED globes included with the TT as they are polarity sensitive, if you are using the traditional filament style globes then it will work either way.

Two odd problem to be careful with. When I tried using the LED for the FI light I found that it was lit all the time. When I changed that one back to filament it works as expected. Also the way the turn signal is setup will not work properly with the LED globes. Depending on the turn signal you have on, the polarity delivered to the globe will actually change. This is not a problem with the standard filament globes.

Yep, I am running the LED globes. I had the same issue using the LED for the FI light. The first time I wired it up it was lit all the time too. I now have it working properly. The positive LED globe wire uses the Orange FI wire and the neg. LED globe wire uses the White FI wire as you had indicated. However, only the (+) FI wiring is running thru the TT connector. I have the neg. LED globe wire using the White FI wire directly.

I am in the middle of installing turn signals and was thinking of adding the LED globe for the indicator to the TT dashboard. Thanks for the tip and now that you mention it, I see how there may be an issue using the LED globes over the filament bulbs.
