Hello everybody! I'm new in this forum, my name is David.. from Italy!

I would buy an "old" Husa fs650e 2008 with "only" 25.000 km...i know it has been used in street and track(not much), and that the engine was opened at 17.000km. The owner fell 2-3 times..

It's a bad idea?

Hello David,
It depends on the price really, but the 2006 and up bikes are the better ones with most of the issues sorted. So how many hours has the engine since the rebuild?
What engine parts were replaced ?
Who did the work ? (It is important for the engine to be handled by someone who knows what he is doing)
What kind of extras does it have ? Exhaust, wheels ,etc.
I would look for a good example in good condition , with good plastics and a good exhaust (akrapovic,fp,doma) or a really cheap one.

What kind if damage is on the bike currently?
Consumables?
Mileage says very little in these machines, so don't count it as a reliable indicator. Hours matter.
They are awesome bikes , amazing fun to ride almost addictive and if they are cared for they are actually reliable.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for interest...The bike has 50h since the rebuild (piston, main bearings, and I do not know anything else...)
Mount the slipper clutch, Silmotor Exhaust, aluminium tank, carbon fairings (he would also give me the original pieces) and aks 4000€

Otherwise I found another from 2005 with only 150h (he told me that the distribution chain broke at 20...) for 3000€

Since I am from Greece our prices are similar so I have a good gauge.
You can post the advert so we can see better if you want.
Ask for the maintenance schedule ie how many hours for an oil change (quality oil 10-50 or 10-60 preferably) , oil filter, valve checks etc.
What brand is the slipper clutch? Adige, STM or Sutter?
Generally I would go for the newer one with all the extras for a better price . You know talk him down a bit or make him an offer he can't refuse , :p closer to 3,500 would be preferable.
50hours are not a lot if they are maintained right. And you get all the stock parts

50h for engine...frame and other parts have 24000+ km and some some falls on the track...looks ok, but could the frame be twisted for this? Slippery clutch maybe is STM or Adige, not Sutter(does the slipper clutch need a different oil?)

This is the bike (the bike has had 5 owners)

I wouldn't sweat the milage too much . Mine had 22.000kms before I bought it and now is up to 26k.
The frames are solid generally , but if you crash hard enough you can destroy pretty much anything.
Have a shop check it over just for reassurance if you want to .
No ,no special oils required for the slipper clutch to work . Is just good practice to put quality oil in the engine .

About the advert:

The 5 owners is the only thing that I am not very sure about, ask about the viechles history .
It is not uncommon for these bikes to change owners mainly because they don't want to be stuck with the engine rebuild bill.

The other thing that is out of sync is the front brake caliper. In the listing is silver but to my knowledge they came with a blue anodised caliper . (Silver FTE caliper was on the Aprilia SXV)
Also the yellow tank is stock on FE enduro models ,2008 FS 650s had a dark blue closer to black plastic tank.
Lastly the wheels stock are black but in the ad they are blue.
This bike screams from miles away that it's a supermoto conversion from
Fe (enduro)650 to Fs 650(supermoto)

Google 2008 fs 650 and the differences should be obvious.
So bottom line that's not an original FS 650

Check the paperwork/vin of the bike with your insurance guy for previous recorded accidents. Maybe he can fish something out.

If you don't have a problem with a converted one ,everything's clean , the price is right, and you get all the stock parts, I would go for it.
Definitely not for 4k euro

David send us the older/cheaper one if you want for us to have a look.

It is not a FE..i know this bike, originally belonged to a friend(2008 to 2011), then(after 17000km) it changed 4 owners..

This is the older that i found with 150h: https://www.moto.it/moto-usate/husaberg/fe-650/fe-650-e-2007/8140085

Hi, I'm Alfonso and I'm Italian too. I have a 2007 fs650 from 2018. Since 2018 I have obsessed with the 650 and I have an archive with all the most interesting announcements published to date. I can honestly tell you that I have seen several ads for fs650 2007/2008 motorcycles at around 3000 euros with around 15000 km and at least 1 had a full Akrapovic exhaust. I say this to let you know that the current ads are slightly expensive. If you buy a 650 I advise you to fit a double valve spring kit, since a common and very dangerous failure is the breakage of a valve due to the standard springs being too hard. Luckily mine already has it, but if it hadn't been, I would have removed the head even if the bike was fine to make this change. Know that such a bike requires a degree of dexterity and knowledge for proper maintenance (valve clearance and carburetion control) that many do not have and therefore sell the bike. Also in Italy there is the ownership tax, but this bike costs only € 25 a year, and this pushes many to keep the bike stationary in the garage and not sell it.

Old ads for sale

Hello! The modification of the valves should already have it (the friend, the first owner had the engine opened to make the main and piston bearings) .. then it changed a few owners and I don't know how it was kept. The price is a bit high maybe because it has different accessories? I thought of proposing 3500 to him, moreover it is also to be overhauled as well as a change of ownership.

I would also have found a 2004 550(I would have gladly taken it, he asked for € 3200) very close to home with a new engine, but he changed his mind.

How's the 550 2005 going, compared to 650 2008? I would have found this 550 for "only" 3200 €

The Io 650 is a bit more powerful than the 550, and has definitely more torque. If you set the gears on both bikes for the same top speed, the 650 rears up with one more gear than the 550. My 650 rears up in 5 when exiting corners at 90-100km / h just keeping your back straight and pulling the handlebar. I managed to wheelie in 6 gear at over 115 km / h giving strong acceleration and strong tug with the bust. The bike has 16/40 ratios and silmotor exhaust. A 550 doesn't have the same strength, but it does have an engine that runs faster

I used to have a ktm 525 motard. Can the 550 be considered superior?
