Took the 570s out with street-ish tires, akaro exhaust, comp mapping etc riding with my buddy who has a ninja 650 (almost new). I basically scared myself. The bike was exactly equal in power and accelleration (beleive me, he tried to beat me). My lower back is toast, I almost lost it going over a brim in 4th gear, front popped right up. The bike is scary powerful.

So I took her home, put on some nice soft music, washed her down, put on the stock exhaust and traction ignition map for softness. If I am going to ride this puppy, I want to stay alive.. now that I know what she will do, I want to just play nice and quiet for the rest of our relationship.

Nice to know it is a beast though.. just too much for me. It will hurt you!

I used to work at a motorcycle shop that carried all of the Japanese Big 4. We always had what we called a "fright bike" on the showroom floor. Somebody (usually not a kid, usually a middle aged man) would buy a bike, ride it for maybe 2 or 3 weeks, and bring it back saying, "Buy this bike back from me before it kills me." They'd take a terrible loss whether they traded for a less powerful bike or took cash, but they did it anyway.

It's peculiar thinking to me, because it's not the bike that will kill you. It's your right wrist. Or rather, your level of judgment and maturity. Moderate the throttle according to conditions and your skills, and a 1000cc race replica will be just as safe as a 250cc starter bike. Safer, actually, given the differences in brakes and handling.

Just some advise mate if you learn good throttle control and learn how to stop then your good to go, you can pretty much ride anything if you learn good throttle control, I did moto trials for some years and it works wonders I went from a 300cc trials bike to a crf450 to a fe 570 and also have a Gsxr, if you go faster than your comfortable on any bike it becomes scarey, the 570 is a very safe bike its so forgiving you can ride on the tightest trails to open road to some degree all depends on how far you twist the throttle
