After my bike's maiden voyage yesterday, I noticed the muffler had severe rubbige marks from the tire. I'm getting ready to space out the muffler, has anyone else done this? Can it be totallt eliminated?

Quite common.
Space as required.

I think Bigbob found a spacer to be in the wrong location or missing can't remember exactly. My 550 dont :D

I had a small/thin spacer on the front mount of the muffler and no spacer on the rear mount. It just had a long bolt that wasn't tightened. I put in some crappy homemade spacers for now, I'm going to make some good spacers next week, and maybe use bigger hardware. Thanks for the replys.

re: dale's pic:
i never get anybody to help when i readjust my muffler :( but at least it keeps those side knobs sharp!

I had the same muffler rub issue.

Added some increased mounting spacers and problem solved.
