whato all, some folk know that i have had some Ti valves coming in and wanted to know the weight of them.

anyway, i have just machined up two 37mm inlets for a greek customer. the OEMs weigh 42gms while these weigh 28gms each.

i know that Ti is meant to weigh 56% of steel so 23gms would have been good but we machined the backs down when trimming and on reflection i think we should have taken everything off the front face. Ti valves don't have a dish in the front either so next time.....

Hi Taffy, whats the price please for a set (& presume they will be compatible with the dual springs I've just ordered?)?

I've bent the inlet valve on the piston head, so need to renew anyway...

Thanks

Ti valves can only be used with soft seats such as phospher bronze etc. so that's out of the question here. i will be producing 37s in a steel alloy very soon but unfortunately funds have hit a blip this last 10 days. they will be £45 each. i expect to have them ready in 30-40 days.

so you are left with the OEM steel valves which are £66 each. i have some cleaned up (ex)tuliped valves that are 36.9mm and fine at £35 each.

you'll have to excuse my ignorance here, but is it a big job (or possible), to replace the seats? The engine is fully stripped at the mo, so if I was ever going to up-grade the valve material/seats etc, now is a good time to do it.

Thanks

i can't emphasis enough that there is no point in going t Ti. the standard valves and springs can go through the redline on a 450 so you are in no danger using the standard valves and DVSK on a 650. the only reason for Ti is to rev them to the stratosphere, to place where if you took the bike to you would throw a rod on day 1.

i haven't changed seats for years. to a good tuner they are a piece of piss.

the greek has paid £100 per valve for them and next time i could be a bit cheaper but i eered on the side of caution this time.

my 37mm valves will be £45 each soon. a month or. £21 cheaper, flow better, weigh less and won't tulip at all.

Hey just wanted to say thanks Taffy for the DVSK!! Arrived very promptly, items in perfect condition, & 3 sides of A4, full of information & details on how to install the springs including, diagrams, photographs, their benefits, power savings etc etc, the list goes on....

I don't often have cause for praise in this day & age, but I do today, so a sincere thanks!!!

I'll let you know how I get on with the rebuild & the effect these springs have.
