On the "older models" manuals on the Official Husaberg web site, the 2003 Manual now lists a Fs450e,Fs450 and a FX450e.All 100 mm bore engines.
There has in the past been some discussion concerning 2003 450cc models, but the specs are now in print...wonder how many are out there?

the parts book quotes 450 stuff as staring in 2003 but I think it is an error. to have been 450cc they would have has to have put the 57mm stroke crank in a year early! (or gone down on the bore which they didn't do).

interestingly, manufacturers will lie about the CC of an engine!

I once bought a very rare bike: a Ducati 400SS which was a Japan only bike and flopped!

they brought them back from Japan and each country in Europe tried to sell a few of them. they were the only 'Pantah' based engine ever to get the 6-speed gearbox so within a day I'd had the box out and fitted an old 5-speed I had.

anyway, I then went to tune the *** off it and I swopped the "51mm stroke" crank for the usual (for the 500/600) 58mm stroke. only the pistons popped out the top of the barrel! I'd bought and prepared a crank, I'd bought rare 86mm piston and barrels to make this a short stroke special - 86 x 51 = 600cc Ducati 600SSS.

I checked the stroke and it was indeed already a 58mm stroke and the real cc was 460cc!!!! the bike was standard and I know that nobody else had been in there. I guess nobody minded because in Japan against the ZXR400, FZR400 and RC30 the bike was still gutless!

so you never know, the last 470s could have been short stroke 450's - but I doubt it! :D :D :D

alligators in New York Sewage Systems anyone!

Taffy
