Hi there guys,

If you look in the menu on the left, you'll see a new link under "Resources" called "The Doc!".

Thanks to the work of Taffy and Maddel over the course of several months, the wiki has been updated and converted to a wiki format. Enjoy it and let us know your thoughts.

There are some other dedicated members creating new sections for the doc, and they will be added when ready.

I've still got some integrating to do with it, but it's available for viewing as of now.

Enjoy!

Hi Kelsow,

I had screwed up the link. Thanks for letting me know about it :D

thanks,

Sweet, wicked, narly!!!

Great work, that thing is awesome!!!

What a great idea!!!!

hi folks

i too am very happy with it. maddel dropped me a PM in late october and told me what was on the cards. i kind of grunted and pointed out that i had a new job.

but once i got going i would stay in and pound away at the changes. the original word doc is still a link at the base of this post and although it doesn't have the very latest changes on it, it is good to print off and take out with you to the workshop. i doubt i will upgrade it again so that's it with that one.

but maddel i believe has done all the 'geeky' work designing it along with json. i came up with the idea of the yellow and blue bits at the bottom and i hope we start to fill those out in time.

thanks to joeUSA, sandskipper, husabutt and bundybear for keeping stum over it and sorry we couldn't tell you all before-especially le frog who came up with that beauty yesterday that we really ought to try and use wiki!

husabutt is having a look at any info pertinent to the 470/501 whilst sandskipper is reviewing the electrics which i so hate.

if any of you don't like us using your gallery pics-please let us know! otherwise we can use them right!

i have asked many a time for input from y'all and the same goes for now as well.

we're reaching a situation where the 2002 model's connection with todays 450, whilst being clear-is becoming tenuious. we may have to rephrase things soon....

i hope dale L will check that i have all his facts correctly noted and again if any others among you have something that we/i've misconstrued; then please let us know.

does any other web site have this feature? i don't think so!

so this is the best little bike web site ever! ok? :D :D

don't forget to thank maddel and json for at least the rest of their lives.

as for the future, well, i have a 450 long-stroke conversion w/ a cometic head gasket to test, try a radically machined BV head followed by a tuned BV head, my own carb going to 41mm, different set of headers, to attempt some form of velocity stack, re-wire the bike to become road legal, to try and sort this swing arm bush problem and so the list goes on!

i wish i could come in with a FE450e 2005 (used) and bridge the gap but i've been hit by the shyte stick again and so the old banger will have to do.

the development continues....

regards

Taffy

hello,

the doc is really great!!!

one thing i am surprised ...
i thought the modified cylinder head with the bleed screw did not come until die 04er model. i have an 03 but i can´t find it!
:?:

Artus, it's there, I had one on mine. Look between the header, then check your VIN number :D :D

WOW!. This doc is very nice and user friendly, thanks to everyone who took the time and effort.

hello,

parsko, i´am sure that my bike is an 03.
vin: yu7fe4e813000365
var.4
vers: e8

it seems that there exist wider differences between the 03 models for EU and USA.
in germany only the models up 04 have the modified cylinder head.

Thank you

more maintenance items for me to overcome. I so like to just wash it and change oil/air filter and that's it other then I enjoy checking adjusting valves and understand the importance of that. I need to get more bearings maintenance oriented I think. I avoid that cause bearings are hard to get to. But some very good reminders in there. I did notice how wash water collects at the base of the air filter no matter how carefull I am not to spray over the tank.

I didnt know to protect the base of the shock from washing, those bearings get messed up from washing?

oh what about red alerts on the 05/06 models? is that cam chain wear a thing to look for? maybe I should do a thread search.

Hey Bob, we are counting on you to write the red alerts on the 05/06. Hopefully it will be a very short section

i think even bob might smile at that one!

HAVE A GOOD READ EVERYONE AND THANK MADDEL WHEN YOU SEE HIM!

For you guys and gals ( any women here? btw) who can afford a new bike every couple years like me, here are some typical Red alerts, 06 style

new bike,NB, Red alert #1- don't wash your new husaberg jersey with old socks and towels. It comes out with pasty white lint stuck on it.

NB Red Alert #2- Don't expect the new bike to be just as good as the last, learn to be surprized how much better it will be.

NB red Alert # 3 - try not to piss off the homies on the new forum too quickly, or amaze them with your non-knowledge.

NB red Alert #4 - Trust the Euro manufacturers - don't jump to conclusions that aftermarket parts are needed on day 5.....learnt that with my husky.

NB red alert #5 - be Good to your bank and keep your credit score high, because next year you'll want another hot bike....ooh that FE550 is in my sights........or maybe a 2007 update of my TE-510......

yup those are my red alerts.

MOST Important Red alert: once you're single, don't ever ever start dating women again, they just get in the way and reduce your riding time......and those two bikes in MY garage need to be rode. :)

Okay Guys! that is a very awesome thing you have done. You can not find this sort of information all organized for free (or for a fee) anywhere on anything! This type of thing makes people who ride bergs even more unique. GREAT JOB GUYS!

Now I just need a bike to use it on..... :(

Awesome piece of work!!!

Now, what if someone has a good modification or replacement part that would be of use in this document, how would they go about having this added?

Thanks,
Mike

In accordance with Taf's wishes, only approved "beaurocrats" are able to edit the wiki. Although it's now hosted on this site in a new form, it's still Taf's baby, so if you have anything to add, or want a more permanent position as a beaurocrat, he would be the guy to speak to.

thanks,

hi mike

how are you!

i trust anything you say fella and i know you know a hundred things you could pass on.

there have been repeated 'warm welcomes' to add to the orgiginal owners doc over the past 3 years and even at the top i believe i mention it here. so any info will be ingested and put up if seems sensible to yours truly.

like cooks in the kitchen, we all think that our knowledge is good till three months later we know better. by having beaurocrat status i'm just trying to cut out the 'learn as we go' and get the 'found out at the finish' type of attitude. hope this suits!

recently, wise sages will have noticed that i had put on the last 'real' owners doc (this is called "The Doc" BTW) that the bike was better without a counter balancer. but the bike damn near killed me at a couple of races and now i feel that enduro and trail riders should leave it on whilst MX, FX and SM could perhaps take it off.

please PM me if you have summink and remember that all fresh infor is (credited) in brackets.

regards

Taffy
