Hey guys,

A friend of mine decides to go out and buy 2 new KTM's. One of them being a 690 Enduro. Well, not to be outdone---well, not completely anyway I now kinda have the hankerin' to get my hands on an FE650. I suppose I could save and wait for the 08's to come availible. But, I would be happy with a bike that is a leftover or even used. Comparatively, since the 650's had come out, what inprovements had been made through the years? Would the 07 or 08 be much ahead of say an 05?

Even though the KTM is a 690, it is of course less cubes at 654cc's. Same with the 650 Berg at 628cc's. However, the Berg weighs in at 240 lbs and the KTM at 305. It would definitely take a lot more than 26cc's to make up for that 65 lbs---ha ha ha.

substantial differences in the 05 to 07, My 07 will spank a 690 ktm no problem

I'm pretty sure even with the changes from 05 on, they power remains the same. My 05 FS650E laughs at 690s. Go out and get one!

Are you saying that the 650 had many updates in the 3 model years from 05 to 07. Or, that the 05-07 group is much better than the 04 and back?

thanks,

there were some changes to the motors after 05 i believe, making the bottom end a bit more stout. however, any of the model years 04 and up are a good bike.

I would go the 2006 model up as it has the better counter balancer bearing setup compared to the 2005 Model.

Say, what would a fair price for an 07 FE650e be?

Let me rephrase that to "is $7900 a fair price for an 07 FE650e?" I heard of a guy buying an 07 for $6300. I don't want to NOT patronize my nearest Berg dealer, but like anyone, I don't want to pay more than a fair price. I am seriously looking to purchase a new bike and the 650 Berg is it.

If someone can offer me some advice and wishes to do it in an annonymous manner, please send me a private message or email me direct.

thanks,

berg dealers can be all over the place on a price. some discount steeply on old models, some think that $500 off the msrp on a 3 year old model is a great deal. I would shop around, take into consideration the cost of shipping a bike to you, get the lowest price, including shipping (if needed) and take it into the local dealer, the worst they can say is no... 6300 for an 07 i think is a SCREAMING good deal.
