I think we discussed this before didn't we? and someone said that it was a river or something?

I had the very first Husaberg importer to the Uk call me Wednesday and we talked about it. his take on it is that:

Someone (Thomas Gustavsson?) turned up for their first race on the new bike and they asked the rider: "what make is it?" the rider said that they hadn't thought about it? and somehow someone came up with the name of not a river but the mouth to one or a tributry etc?

do you Swede's know more?

regards

Taffy

Hi

I've read somewere that part of the story, the show up on race, but if I remember correctly, but the name had something to do with a town name ????

Taken from Husabergforce site http://www.husabergforce.com/thehusaberg.htm

"The name of the company is actually borrowed from the place of the first pre-production plant; an old cow-shed, situated on the peninsula Husabergs Udde. Although moved from the original location years ago, the company is still in the neighbourhood, just some 30 km Northwest of the northern peak of the lake Vättern. A surrounding more or less designed for dirtbikes (and moose) and in the heart of the Swedish race tracks and clubs."

I'm pretty sure my Swedish neighbor told me it translates to "mountain house".

I wrote a long post some years ago about this with maps etc explaining where the first factory was located (Husabergs udde) etc.
Last year I stopped at the second factory (that was left in 2003) and it still stands empty. Signs on the doors simply says that production has been moved and the scandinavian main office is located in Örebro.

If you brake the word down it translates something like this.
Husaberg
Husa Berg
Hus = House, Berg = Mountain
But I don't know what the original meaning of the word is, it has probably evolved over centuries and could just as well be the name of the hill where some guy built a house (husa = a persons name and berg = hill). I don't know.

It's the same with Husqvarna. It is a city in the south point of lake Vättern and the company was originally an arms maker (if I remember history correctly). Today the original (the bike part was sold to Cagiva who sold it to BMW) company makes chain saws, sewing machines and stuff like that.
Here's a similar take at Husqvarna...
Husqvarna
Hus Qvarna
Hus = house
Kvarn = mill
Could be the name of a house that was used as a mill. Or a mill that someone lived in. Or something completely different.
