I just finished a 7 day adventure ride on my Berg. Did a few hundred KMS of sand beach, a few hundred on the pavement, lots of gravel, jumps had the best time of my life. The Berg ate all others for breakfast. It was kind of like the dog food commercial where the little dog is all hyper and running circles around the big dog. Well thats what it was like riding a Berg with the other bikes.
No problems to speak of. 18 hours on the 650 now and 4 oil changes. No crashes on this trip.
However my bike keeps dropping parts. Skid plate bolts (and almost the skid plate) the rear brake piston, bolt came off and piston fell out, and lastly my damn kickstand fell off at 70 MPH and vanished into the weeds. (lucky on that one- could have been ugly if it hit the chain or spokes)
Anyone else have this problem? Doesn't seem to vibrate any worse than any other thumper I have ridden. Chain is perfect. What else should I take appart and locktite before I lose some more bits. It kind of reminds me of a cartoon motorcycle where the bits fall off and everyone laughs, except I am not laughing. Still smiling from the ride though. I'd post video but I was never close enough to the photographer and his BMW to actually get in any shots.

if i can remember the 8 years back to when i got mine - i had the same thing. eventually i lost some, caught some in time and then did preemptive strikes with the threadlock.

years later i forget to threadlock stuff and things can't be bothered to fall off any more!

nice trip.

shame about the wind noise on some parts of the vid

ever since i lost two engine mount bolts and both radiator shroud bolts on the 400 on one trip i've become a great lover of blue loctite.

Hi Guys,

One sure solution to loose nuts and bolts is to do like that guy in maDDtraPPer's video ride through salt water (or was that a big fresh water lake) , he will never need to loctite any thing again!!!

Great Video by the way.

Steve

I am going to pull out a drill and lockwire some things. I don't know how the kickstand came off and didn't jam anything up I have no idea. I am also going to get some rubber around clamps and where I can to try and lower the vibrations.
That was indeed the Pacific Ocean those two were riding in. NUTS!
There are supposed to be more videos coming, it really was a great ride. The camera guy has a lot of time in the saddle and he said in 4 continents and god knows how many kilometers it was by far the best riding he's ever done. I don't know how his camera survived...BMW's are tough.

I just checked and there were quite a few a littel loose on the engine case.

I called the dealer. They have a lot of experience and he is sending me the bolts. He told me that he has lockwired a lot of the bolts.
Apparently the rear brake pin that bolts to the back of the pedal always falls out and he replaced with bolt and fiber nut. Recommends lots of blue locktite and using old handle bar grips cut up on the skid plate clamps. Also he said you need to check the small bolt that is on the kick starter it likes to come loose every now and then.
He has never heard of a kick stand coming off before, but I suspect that the loose skid plate may have been producing a lot of vibration agrivating everything else. I got 18 hours on it so pretty new to me, it's a learning curve. I will never go back to Jap bikes again, even if a few bits fall off now and then.

NOpe!, This was a great ride I wish i could have had my yz250 in that. (berg is for the streets) Wow nice stuff guys I BOOKMARKS IT! [drunkess rules] II put some sm stuff on my {soon}profile soound [

Ya the surf actually makes some great berms to launch off of, you just have to watch for logs since it's never the same place twice.
The camera guy has a few more videos now...

It looks like I might me moving over there in the fall. If the deal goes through I will live right across the road from the start of this ride. Anyone wanting to come on up and do that ride will always be welcome at my place.
