:D just had a chance to do another 02 warranty update.

an 02 fe400e, 680mi, when i removed water cover

i could'nt believe my eyes there had never been a

waterpump rotor, pin or circlip insalled on bike from factory

& never hinted at overheating, absolutly no damage at all !

I STILL CAN'T BELEVABLE!!

No worries Jason...

... my doctor says it's OK for me to talk about it now... :eyeslam:

Some strange stuff happened in 2002, do you think the staff were distracted by a KTM audit or some other distracting event?

Hi Rick.
Did it have coolant? I ask for if the answer is yes the following is worth mentioning.

With adequate air flow through the radiator "thermal syphon circulation" is quite efficient. The shortcoming is heavy load / low speed applications.

Kind Regards,
Dale

PS
Early water cooled two strokes were indeed pumpless relying on "thermal syphon" circulation.

I do believe that the Bultaco tss road racers relied on this thermal syphon principle
