speaking to sparks just 14 days or less ago he mentioned that he doesn't like the electrex stator....what's new you ask? bitter business rivals blah! blah!

of course he rather feebly tries to justify this in his eyes by remarking as such "well the electrex doesn't have a valotage regulator like the SEM, the SEM has a zenor diode and the electrex doesn't. it's pushing out incredibly high uninhibited voltage"

yeh yeh more bitterness, get with it....

well i now have evidence that the electrex IS, after all, advancing towards the ignition coil and breaking them. DCR had a customer last week stick an electrex on and blow the coil in under a handful of seconds if any.

i'm also getting a vast increase in requests for the coil and there simply aren't any out there to get used. there isn't a plethora of bikes beoing broken plus new stators, there's just used coils rapidly being used up.

the cost new is around £300 in england, £500 in europe and a lot of ££££ in the USA (i trust!).

so can the electrical geeks here work out how and where to fit what contraption to the electrex stator to save our coils???

perhaps he's not bitter after all.

but he is twisted!!!

Okay Taffy/Sparks now i'm worried, i've had an electrex stator in place for 8 months...... no probs so far but it sounds like its a time bomb............... is it time for some intervention from spain?

Oh and Taffy if he rewinds for a living surely hes gotta be a bit twisted!!?

hi, taffy
a proper zener diode can be fitted externally , among the red cable and ground so as to limit the voltage peaks of the electrex.

if you think that is the problem with them anyway

cheers oyk

i guess there's a way of running up and revving up the bike and seeing the voltage levels on a multimeter or some kind of electronics scanner etc etc. just to proive tis true tis true!

Taffy
