My taillight wont work, only my brake light... Checked everything, but i can't figure out what the problem is.. Anyone got some ideas?`

It's a fs650e 2007.. Probly not the original light

Hey, you might need to post some more deetz about your issue... Assuming you've got current to the socket (w/o bulb) when the bike is running and front headlight is on? My running light died the other day, brake light still worked OK, and bulb was OK. I cleaned the contacts at the bulb socket with electric contact clearner - and also on the connector plug and it worked again, so just a poor connection... My bikes lights cut out during most rides after being shaken to bits!

I got 3 wiers from the motor or battery, then 3 from the taillight.

One of the wiers from the motor dosent work at all, so i have just 2 to choose from.
Kinda hard to explain..

With the only 2 working wiers from the motor/battery i can have either just taillight, or just brake light.

All 3 wiers into the light itself works, but only 2 from the motor does. I got no idea how this works.

Sorry for a bad explanation, but i got no idea what's wrong here..

M = Motor/battery
L = Light

Contact 3 is (ground?)

Contact 1 connected with contact 4 gives brake light
Contact 2 connected with contact 4 gives taillight
Contact 5 does not work at all..

Is it anyone that understand what i mean?

I got some awesome paint skills!

Hey. I suck at electrics; the best I can do is measure current/Ohm using a multi-meter, but sounds like you've got a cable/connection issue on "wire 5" i.e. your dual filament bulb works for both brake and taillight filaments, as do all the connections on the light-side connection plug... Can you trace the "wire 5" further back up the bike and test from the next connector (you may need to get another piece of wire to act as a "joiner"). It could be the "M" connection is no good and needs rewiring/replacing? Check the manual, its likely the tail light is connected to the headlight conenction block behind the headlight, so running a cable from there should be a good test? cheers.

First make sure that all fuses are ok
I presume that when you switch off the light switch you lose the lights
If so then you need to start checking the supply from the brake light switch
A voltmeter would be really helpful
if no voltmeter is available then how about a small test bulb
one side of the test bulb setup to the negative side of the battery
then go testing to see where you have power on the brake light circuit

if none of this makes sense then you need to start looking for someone who has a bit more knowledge of vehicle electrics
no offence meant

Thanks for the answer! No offense taken. :)

I don't think I have any fuses?
Been testing with voltmeter and the testing light bulb thing, but I haven't found the problem yet.

My bike over heated last night, so been looking around for some coolant fluid.
The shops are closed, so I'm not sure what fluid to use... Anyone have an idea?
