Does anyone know if the swingarm pivot bolt from a mid 90's berg will fit an 03 fe400e? The pictures look the same but I can't find any specs or part numbers to compare. Also, if anyone knws a good way to remove a stuck bolt, hitting it repeatedly with a hammer hasn't worked so far!

I can't answer the question about the early years interchanging with the newer ones byt I will tell you that the frames changed in 2000. You might compare part numbers. It seems like the ends look different but it has been years since I looked at the '96 model I once owned.

As far as driving the bolt out, you definitely DON'T want to hit the end directly as this will flare it out and you will never get it through the holes in the frame or motor. Use a big center-punch and a 2-5lb hammer along with liberal amounts of WD40 or something like that. Liquid Wrench works good also. Another thing you can try is to carefully heat things up with a torch and then try driving it out using a punch or drift. What has happened is that rust or corrosion has built up on the bolt and the best way to prvent this is to grease it thoroughly when assembling it.

Been there and done that on and old Husqvarna a few years ago.

Can't answer the interchangeability question... but when I first acquired my 2002 this bolt was a serious challenge to remove.... the frame has enough flex that any blow from a hammer is lessened by the frame flexing on the opposite side. I had to brace the frame against a concrete wall (used a large deep socket around the bolt, then a wooden block to the wall)... large amounts of penetrating fluid... and an air hammer... it still took me an entire day, with some time to allow the penetrating fluid to penetrate before I could get it to move.

I already have screwed up the ends, that's why I am looking for a new one. If I can get it to move, I'll grind the ends to get through the holes. I have been hitting it with het, PB Blaster, and the hammer, but it hasn't budged! I got one out of an old yamaha years ago with an air hammer, that one didn't go through the engine cases. I was hoping that someone had discovered a magic bullet that worked better, but haven't found anything on line. Does anyone know where I can find the part numbers for the older bergs to compare? There are a couple on ebay right now.

Idk, maybe weld a big nut on the other end and try to turn it while hammering it (with a bigger hammer)? Disconnect the shock and remove the wheel. Then can work the s/a up and down and get PB blaster in there from the inside at swingarm.

Lay it on it's side and soak it overnight?

I had a simular problem with my first 04 berg.
I done 165hrs without inspecting or lubing swing arm pivit pin, bushings and bearings.
After soaking it in penetrene and desiel and other stuff, smacking the pin , nothing worked.

I stripped the bike down so it could be lifted easily and went down to an engineering shop. Placed the the whole bike on its side in a 20 ton press. That was the only way i could get the pin to move. That moved the pin...

After that i followed the reccommended inspect and lube every 15 hrs ? as per the husaberg manual.

the 20008 fits the 2002. so see if the part number of the 2002 is the same going BACK. if it is then it will fit for sure.

regards

Taffy
