Hi all

i ran my husaberg on the track the other day .. after a few rounds i turned the engine off , when i tried to kick the engine back on again , it jumped in 5th gear !! by itself... i can shift down , but only to second gear, so no neutral and 1th gear anymore... i disassambled the engine and soon found the problem .. the idler gear (secondgear) got stuck on the main shaft , like it had ran without oil , it *welded* itself onto the shaft ..

anyway, does anyone had this kinda problem before?.. and does anybody know a good place where i can order these parts for my Husa?..

some gears are made as part of the gearbox shaft on some engines-you do know this yes?

the selector fork binds on many 01/02 models.

I recently had lots of trouble with gears being missed and lots of neutrals etc etc.

The problem was with the sliding selector plate being mashed and the screw that holds the spring arms in place was loose.

I fitted a '04 sliding plate mech, which involved a lot of 'fannying around' with reducing width of bushes and spacing out star washers etc etc.

I lost count of how many times I had the clutch basket on and off !!!!

However, I raced at the weekend, and I gotta say it was certainly worth it. My trusty Berg has never changed gear so sweet before.

We rode a very twisty motard track that had me changing up and down the box like a mad thing, with not one single missed gear or false neutral.

When you put it back together make sure you use loctite on the star washer bolt AND the screw between the spring arms !!!!

Deaks :D

i think i found the cause of the damage on my gearbox...

the two engine cases are fitted together with silicone gasket , i think the mechanic who build up this engine , used a little too much of this silicon gasket ..
because , when i dissasambled the engine , i found that the two holes that where drilled in the mainshaft (for lubrication between shaft and gear ) where filled with pieces of siliconegasket ... 8O

Hello Joe,

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I wanted to ask you, which one of the JM prepared bikes did you get? This as I saw the one I was talking about still being for sale at the site. So I assume you got the one from Belgium then.

Yes i got the one from belgium ( see my post above) its been driven by Danny Thybers from JM racingteam number 34
it has a 5 speed gearbox and a titanium FP exhaust ... the cylinderhead has been tuned and they put in a different camshaft , the carb has got a special build intake funnel and i discovered many more parts that arent standard anymore ..

its a real GP machine , and al parts inside and outside are brand new , so even now my gearbox is damaged , i still think i bought a good bike :)

Do you need special parts now also or can you order standard parts for this damage?
I spoke to one of the mechanics from JM a couple of times, nice guys. Gave me some good tips on the carb setting.
Regards.

thats why i would like to get in touch with JM racing team , ive send them a mail about this bike e few days ago , im still waiting for reply

i had the same question , i would like to know if i can order a standard mainshaft and gear ...

If al goes as planned I will see the seller of the other JM prepared bike this saturday. He will be riding a small race in my area. I can ask him too if you like.
Regards.

hi all

the Husa is still in pieces , ive been to several dealers , tried every mainshaft there is , (up from 1996 to 2004) and not one even looked a bit like mine !! :(

its a good thing my father (he does classic racing , you know, Norton , Ducati ,Morini ,BSA and that kinda stuff :p ) knows a good workshop , the owner offerd me to make me a brand new mainshaft !! :)
