Hello,

I was wanting a steering stabilizer for one of my bikes and was wanting feedback on your experiences.

I know what they do and how they work all I need to know is what brand most people are using and how much it cost.

Was it worth it?

I think one of these will indeed make my ride much faster, headshake really sucks!!!!

I kind of think that steering stabilizers are a bit of a band aid for poor suspension set up. Even if a bike does have a stabilizer, i can still feel that unstable condition, even though its not actually "shaking".

I have a GPR on my bike only because it came with it. I took it off and sent it back to GPR to get serviced and the whole time it was gone I only noticed it wasnt there when I hit a big rock or something at high speeds. In that regard its helpful out in the desert when you are hauling butt for long periods, you wont get as fatigued.

The only bike ive ridden with the Scotts is a DRZ400, but I think it worked a bit better. down side is they are more money.

Thanks for reply Dave.

I mostly want to get rid of the vibes I feel through the handlebars in high rev situations is this possible?

It numbs my hands and makes them feel like I can barely move them.

dont think the steering stablilizer for that! maybe those Faastco bar ends?

I must clarify

I am not persueing a steering stablizer for vibes!

I can deal with a little headshake if I have to My front forks have been professionally setup allready and truthfully they are not that bad.

But this vibration drives me nuts, I guess thats the price you pay for a big thumper.

BTW do you know where I can get the faastco bar ends, How much are they?

Thanks
Cory

contact your local dealer. WPS is a distributor. if nobody in your area deals with them or someone else that sells the fasstco stuff i can sell em too yah

I have a 04 525 SX that will walk across the shop while its idling on a stand. I put a protaper upper triple clamp on it with the square flat urethane insert on the top and the cones that go up through the bottom and they work good. Still getting arm pump bad though. Vibes are pretty much gone though. Not sure if they make a clamp for the Bergs or not.

I was actually looking for this part for my 01 KTM 520 MXC

OK here is the deal, My local KTM dealer aint worth a crap they never know anything and I have no idea how they even stay in business they are the most unintelligent bike shop ever i swear.

H#ll I know more about bikes than they do and half the time I have to tell them where to get the parts I want, *******

OK done complaining They cant get them and don't know what I am talking about. Would you be kind enough to tell me a website that has a advertisement available.

I more than likey will get them from dave but I need more info and I want to know what they look like.

Bar ends are the way to go. I think the product I used a long time ago was called a bar snake. It went in the bar and abbsorbed the vibes. Steering staibilizers are great for the desert and fast trails. There have been a coupple times that a staiblizer would have saved my big *** from a fall.

I have a 97 FE400 and put a Scotts on it. It REALLY works for the highspeed hits on the big rocks. mxsouth.com has them for $399.....a pretty good price. As far as the vibration, I use a trick that I read in dirtbike magazine years....decades ago. Fill both ends of the bars with caulking using a caulking gun. It works pretty well for me.

I have hte SCOTTS stabalizer and think it is great. A bit pricey at $500 installed (welded w/ touch up paint to keep looking nice) but since I do alot of sand dune riding it keeps my bars from getting ****** out of my arms when riding through the other peoples lines at high speeds. It has saved me a couple of times and it is fully adjustable to suit your liking. I have a picture of mine in the gallery. I had ordered mine from Premier Motorsports and installed at time of purchase but it can be ordered and installed by yourself if you like. I think it was worth the investment and it can also be swapped from bike to bike in just two or three minutes if you choose to pick yourself up additional stems. Hope this helps.....
