During a ride my FE450E started stalling and became hard to start. Once cooled own started fine until warm and then stalled again. After pulling the air filter, I noticed steam in the intake coming up from the engine vent. Checked radiator, very low.

Is this a bad head gasket or some other leak? Note that it runs fine, starts perfect until warm.

it could well be a headgasket sean. fill to the brim with water and start the bike. should see some bubbles of air walking towards the exit hole if it is.

other possibilities are

water pump seal likely
'O' ring in sidecover - only if you've had the sidecover off!
split hose? no???/

Can the o-rings around the cylinder leak? There was something about that a few years back.

yeh mine! but only after i'd raced for 3 hours without water. they were fried. that isn't the case normally.
