Hi Johnny,

What are your issues with the stator and rectifier, windings and ignitions are my specialty on a daily basis and have been over the past 35 years.

Hi Sparks had issues with battery not charging only getting 12v at battery when running, did the stator check all readings well within tolerances so presume rectifier may be problem its on an 02 fs650 thanks John

Hi Johnny,

What was your open circuit AC voltage?, at 2000 rpm should be around 15vac and at 6000rpm around 35vac. If this is good and all connection are good then yes regulator/rectifier, check the reg/rec has got a good ground.

Hi Sparks thanks for the info managed to get a new regulator/rectifier of DCR only 40 mile from me so will pick up tomorrow will probably pick up new battery (CTZ7S) and new plug any suggestions on plug and battery, oil and filters as well was told when i bought the bike 2 years ago it had R6 starter mod and an uprated stator by Sparks which im guessing is you :mrgreen: in the 2 years of ownership it has been great only problem was kickstart shaft sheared after 2 months cheers John

Hi Johnny,

Have a word with Taffy regarding the battery, some work better than other even though they are given the same rating.
Plug I used Iridium plugs, found them a bit of a colder plug than the original.
Oil I used Motul 15/50 Factory line and the filter was a stainless washable filter.
