I think I need a new stator on my FX 450. The battery will run down after a couple of hours of riding. New battery with full charge. Battery reads 13.5 volts when bike is started it drops to about 13.2. When revved it drops to around 12 volts. I checked voltage on the three wires coming from the stator to the regulator rectifier when the bike is running. They have about 3v on 2wires and 2v on the other. When revved it raises to about 4 or 5 volts. I am thinking at least one of the wires should read 13.5 volts. Any help would be appreciated. I do not want to buy a new stator unless I need it.

Hi, my first thought would be to suspect the regulator/rectifier. Otherwise it is probably the charging system on the stator. I cannot find the specific resistances for each wire on the stator, if you have these values, you can test with the multimeter for a fault.

Stators can be rewound if faulty.

Hope this helps

81211034000 is the regulator for EFI, looks like a berg specific part.
83039004000 is the stator and is almost universal across the Ktm off road range ( the bike with e start anyway ) so maybe you can cross reference to get some measurement values.

There is nil information in the service manual about the charging system.

I see slavens racing and trial tech offer some options.

If you do come across some specs please share them.

I was hoping someone would have a value for the voltage coming from the stator to the rectifier. I assume it should be around 13 volts. 3 volts sure seems low.

Go here to use the part # cross reference and find a machine with a similar stator KTM Newcastle Online Spares

Then go here to find a manual for that machine Google

FWIW there should be a lot more voltage coming from the stator than what you have.

Stator Output

I am experiencing a problem and have posted a separate thread, but here are the answers to your questions.

According to the Husaberg shop manual and a tech at Husaberg, the 450 & 570's charging should be 13.5 - 15.0 volts at the battery.

OHM's reading for the three leads coming out of the stator should be .368 - .552 OHM's on all three leads.

All three leads should not have continuity to ground.

You can run the bike with the stator plug unplugged (running off of battery) and the voltage at idle on any of the three leads should be about 26volts and under rev, over 44 volts. Don't be surprised to see 55 volts. This goes for all three leads and this part is according to the tech at Husaberg.
