Me and my buddy bought a sidecar rig with a 96 600cc husa engine. Worked fine for a few rides then seemed like running out of gas. After that difficult starting, would idle, but touch the throttle and it died like ignition switched off. Later woudn´t even start exept when towed with a van and then stops imediately when throttle opened. The carb has been dismantled and cleaned twice,no apparent problems there, will give spark when kicked over plug removed. Charge coil voltage measured about 18 VAC when kicked(digital multimeter). Walve lashes ok, have not changed whole time, compresion seems strong, auto decomp adjusted per instructions. We suspect the ******* åmål(stator). Potting slightly cracked around charge coils otherwise seems just fine externally. My question is can it give spark when kicked and still be faulty(any experience of such a case)?Otherwise the engine is very good, lots of power even for sidecar and started easily every time until stopped completely. Btw the coil/cdi unit is ok,tested with another unit.
