My friend's 00FC501 berg is in need of a stator. The current one seams to be flaky at this point.

Dealer quoted $350 for a new OEM....

What are the options, other than the above $350?

Thanks!

PS: No, I didn't search, sorry. So amuse me. :)

Hi Ryboj,

I can help you out here on a rewind for $260 if this helps. PM me if you require my assistance or any advice.
Or you could contact Dan at Motoxotica, he still might have one my rewound stators in stock.

Regards

Sparks.

RE: Re: stator options for Berg?

Sparks...thanks for the help...

Can you tell me this. The $350 was what Dan quoted us. Would this have been for your rewind, or a brand new OEM.

Can you tell me the diff?

He said new...not sure now.

Are you aware of what he charges for your rewinds?

With shipping to you, I would be about the same as Dan, correct? $260 + shipping.. = somewhere in the ballpark of the $350?

Again, thanks for helping me out. I'll relay this all to my friend.

Note: Can anyone tell me if a bad or faulty stator can cause the below? (Symptoms, other than backfiring, happened all of a sudden while on a ride.)

1-EXTREMELY hard to start (I think the only way it started was being bumped started downhill)
2-Won't run at idle
2-Some backfiring on decel
3-Resistance of kickstarter, almost as if there was gas in the cylinder that could not ignite, causing hydro lock or something

RE: Re: stator options for Berg?

One last thing....it was also running rather cold on the way back to camp after getting it fired back up again.... the engine was not producing the regular amount of heat that is.

When it first died on the trail, you could put your hand to the engine without any real concern.... crazy.

RE: Re: stator options for Berg?

a sign of impending ignition failure is that the bike seems rich. that means as a bi-product that it runs cooler.

i sell sparks stators on ebay uk at £160 p/ex plus postage.

regards

Taffy

RE: Re: stator options for Berg?

Thanks Taffmeister.... :)

Yeah, the cooler thing I get with the richness. Dan was about 90% sure it was the ignition.

Sounds like sourcing these units won't be hard... thanks for putting yourself out there...
