:D My 2003 FE 400 came with 13/48 gears. I am a big guy, 275 lbs, I now learn that the factory springs are set for guys of 185lbs, more or less.

Springs: I am going to replace the rear spring with a new KTM spring (ps-4?) and then see how the front springs feel.

Gears: I was also thinking of going to a 52 tooth rear sprocket, or maybe a 50. The bike still overheats a little in the slow muddy ruts and 1st and 2nd gears seem a little tall.

Autocluitches: How goes life for those of you with autoclutches? I am considering...

Did any of you look at my post regarding travel in Canada in '06? For those of you with US convictions for DUII/DWI you may want to read it and check out the links.

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions? I will even take some well intended and thought provoking ridicule if it will help the process::?:

As always, thanks in advance. My Husaberg has become my drug of choice.

I went to a 50 tooth rear on my 01 470fx. The gearing is plenty low for play riding. IMHO a 52 would be overkill and reduce top speed too much along with over reducing the spacing between the gears requiring more frequent shifting.

No crime record for me (used to be a cop) and I am in for next August. I doubt I could pass up a chance to ride with the great FRYGUY. I didn't get to go with him much in Moab and I want to make sure he gets a chance to wait for me. Wife says fine, I got time, and always wanted to go there and maybe I will check out some hunting areas for waterfowl season. I have heard it is a must hunt if you like to hunt ducks and geese.

As for ridicule hows this:

You know what they call a bus full of lawyers going off a cliff................

wait its worth it

A GOOD START

who ate all the pies!

i can only tell you that i have .46's up front for my 210lbs and she's great. the standard rear spring was like velvet although she has sagged a bit since.

gearing. 13 x 48 is nearly the same as 14 x 52. however they do one more size and that's 53T so althpough it's only i tooth i would go to 14 x 53 gearing.

i wouldn't change the gearing any further becauise what the lads haven't told you is that the 400 is quite soft or even gutless!

the LX2 cam is worth it or a 53 or 55 OEM cam used.

auto clutches are awesome and with no problmes.

please note that you don't have a gearing problem, YOU HAVE A POWER PROBLEM!

8O I dabbled in law enforcement years ago. Four years with military police in the USMC (baby sitting drunks and choreographing fights mostly) and three months with small municipal force while deciding if I want to go back to law school. Thought I would join the FBI. Ended up as prosecutor, then private practice.

As a former cop, you should be able to come up with better lawyer jokes than that, puuuuhleeeease.

i.e. How can you tell when a lawyer is lying....His lips are moving....

You can insult me (and other lawyers) all you want. Unfortunately, now that you have insulted my Husaberg you have made it personal. Like I tell my clients, you can run and ride, but you just can't hide. I think I will report your bike stolen to the Canadians. According to my confidential reliable informants, Husaberg owners are notorious drug smugglers. Can you say Canadian border body cavity search.....eh? :moan: :blindfold:

For you young tough racing types, I guess my FE 400 maybe namby-pambi on the power curve, but at 49 with my skill level and lack of gray matter, you do the best youu can with what you got. It is more than enough bike for me, for now, at least until my meds wear off......

However a new cam.........
:sign7:
Thanks for all the input. :sign2:
:signthanks:

Enjoy!!
