the sprague inner gear known as the freewheel gear for the 2001-2002 models has been discontinued. I sold my last one yesterday

if I recall, fitting 2001/2 to 2003/8 or vice versa causes a whining noise?

and I can't imagine this gear being made by anyone else for anyone else?

regards

Taffy

The 01 (and some 02) models were *******ized right from the start. This just adds insult to injury. If there is a need someone ....................

There is one 01 and one 02, are they both ending ??

My parts book said "2001-" together and then "2003+"

Taffy

My part book says:

250 248-01 Free wheel inner part -01
250 273-01 Free wheel inner part -02

yes but it only says the second number: 250 273 01 AFTER the year. in the 2003 handbook.

this means that the year was a split year like the camshafts were (in design change only not part number) and perhaps one or two other things.

it still leaves 1.5 years of owners disappointed. the Aussies get/got their bikes first so they will have many of the earlier bikes.

I accidentally ordered a wrong one from you Taffy, so if you want it back it is possible. Had to buy the correct 250 273-01 elsewhere when I realised my mistake.

Or if anyone else needs one it is for sale.
Part number is 250 248-01 and it hasn't been used.

that should sell straight away!

because I can't be 1000% certain it's the same one I could end up in a lot of trouble if it went wrong for someone....

you sell it. it should sell VERY quickly!

Hell. I'm glad I got mine when I did. It must have been one of the last in captivity... Thanks Taffy!

Engine runs like a dream now. Quieter now than it ever was.

Cheers... Paul

No, I lost a tooth. I only found it because the engine needed stripping to replace the balance-shaft bearings. Occasionally the starter would 'slip', which I thought was just the sprag clutch beginning to fail, but otherwise all was good.

Cheers... Paul
