Hello All. Just found a mostly fresh 2001 400 FE. It sat on a upper shelf for 8 years. Last spring the owner thought of re commissioning it. He soon found a bad starter-clutch. Being a gifted tech, he rebuilt the whole engine while apart. Then got busy with other things so bike sat all summer. I found it while searching for a fast trail bike. Now my son and I are doing my usual routine of getting everything as close to perfect as possible. Have only ridden it for 15 mins, mostly gently to be easy on the new engine. Even at partial throttle it rips!
Son has a lightly modified Yam TTR 230 for learning the ropes. He`s getting better and we`ve found some good local riding areas. Hope to head to Oregon sand dunes for a few days camping/ riding in spring. L
