I just purchased a '98 FE 501, and I'm trying to find a place online as to where I can get some SM wheels, rims. Does anyone have any advice, ideas, suggestions for a newbie, super wet behind the ears, 1st time husaberg owner? This bike is rather intimidating for me, The guy I purchased it from hadn't started the bike in about 4 months, and it took him a bit of tweakin with the carb and good old hard kicks, to get it started. I wanted to try turning it on myself, I've never started a kick bike before. He saw my snearkers and said that it wasnt a good idea to just use my current footware, he suggested I always have boots on...whats up with that? Thanks guys,

Cezar

Hey Dreamer,
Where are you located? I have a 97' Berg with 17" wheels that should fit your bike. As far as kicking over your 501 with sneakers on, give it a try. Let me know if you're interested in the wheels.

You want 'em for racin' or just ridin'? Quite a few have got cast wheels on their bikes but I don't think anyone uses them for competition. They suit me perfectly on my '98 FE600E.

Is you bike an e-start version FE501E or kick only FE501? The kick only jobs prior to 2001 don't have a balancer shaft & vibrate much more, but they may still be OK for shorter road trips.

Check out Vegard's and my gallery (and perhaps others?) for photos. Vegard's wheels are both off a Suzuki RGV250 as is my rear. My front is Yamaha FZX250. The chain's on the opposite side so they must be flipped over to work. The spokes lean forward, not back, but that does not seem a problem. The spacers to make them fit are quite simple to machine up. You also have to make an extension piece up to fit the existing front caliper on the bigger brake disc.

There are several threads on the subject from up to about two years ago. Sing out if you need help to find them.
