Single cable FCR

I bought a FCr carb for my 01 a while back. It is a 39mm that was on a wr450 (according to the seller) the carb only has accommodations for one cable as the entrance hole for the other cable is blank.... It hasn't been drilled and tapped. Has anyone run into this? Is there a problem with running one cable or should I drill and tap the housing for a second cable? The wheel inside has two holes.

I run one cable on all my bikes

there is a 50 page thread on thumpertalk somewhere about how this is dangerous and you will be a dead fool

nobody has had an issue with it as far as i know.
