Bought some Michelin S12XC's for both front and back, Michigan is nothing but sand. Haven’t ridden on them yet but will do so soon. I have a trip out to KY planned and wanted to get the Medium compound M12XC to take with me just in case I start throwing knobs or might be proactive and change it before I go. Not going to KY till Sept.
I ordered a 110/100 they sent me a 130/80. Thoughts? Should I send it back and get the size the bike calls for or is all well in the State of Michigan?
Thanks,
Tim

look at a tire chart and see how much different the size really is. You might find the difference is very small. I often use Rocky Mountain ATV's site for this. If you go to dirt bike tires pick a tire, the sizing chart will come up explaining the differences in tire sizes.

If you take a minute and check Michelins web site they show the 130/80 and the 110/100 are the same tire..
Seems they have a label on the side of the tire that states this as well.

Michellin use a different measurement system to every other manufacturer.
The following is "As I undersatnd it" as I am by no means a tyre expert.

They measure across the entire width of the tyre ie outside of the widest knob to outside of the opposing widest knob. Most other manufacturers measure the case sizing at the widest point.
This is why a Michellin size is around 20mm wider than the others as the knobs stick out about 10mm each side.

The secound half of the meaurement ie 80michellin or 110standard is the hieght of the sidewall measured as a percentage of the width. ie 80michellin = 80% of 130mm (104mm) and 100standard = 100% of 110mm (110mm)

So a 130/80 Michellin is 130mm at it's widest point across the tyre (around 110mm standard), and 104mm high sidewall(80% of 130mm)
Standard tyre measurements ie Dunlop, Perelli etc for the same size tyre is 110/100.

Confused? has taken me a longtime to get my head around it.

So in summary the 130/80 is fine to run on your bike, infact that is what I always run. I love the Michellin :D
Cheers

Thanks all. I compared it to an existing tire I have and they are very close. So I think the way Michelin measures it differently is a correct statement.
Thanks,
Tim
