HI all,

Have a 2001 FX650 and we think there might be a stator issue developing.
With a strong and extremely fast kick we get good spark, but with the electric starter we don't get any.

Ther basics are all checked - we have R6 starter mod, engine spins very well, auto decompressor and everything runs A1 and engine has no difficulty going through compression stroke.
However, if I pull in the manual decompressor, I can get engine to spin at rediculous speeds and I get good spark. Funny thing is, when cranking normally I would swear that the electric start turn FASTER then the kick but still no spark????

Anyways - I think I am due for a rewind. Called our usual supplier (RMSTATOR) and they told me they could not rewind it.
I am VERY hesitant to send stator oversees - A friend of mine sent parts over to Italy last year and they were seized at customs - not knowing what the electronics were for even after including all proper documents - parts eventually got lost forever.

If you have a good lead on a Canadian company that is familiar with this job please send me the info

thanks!

Re: SEW stator repair in Canada

hi

i rewind sem stators
and i also have done atleast 1 in canada with no problems from customs

cheers kris

I sent mine to Taffy in England. No problems whatsoever. The nice thing about dealing with the UK is that I never have had to pay duty or tax when it arrives. Shipping rates over suck but the return shipping is way more reasonable. The turn around time will likely be a month before you have it back in the bike.

I am still not ready to send it overseas and have customs think it a bomb of some sorts.

And 1 month waiting time!! I cant wait that long - we have events we are running every weekend.

What about a place I could just BUY a new rebuilt stator - does Taffy or kRIS offer this?

thanks

Try boss off road or motoexotica. Taffy and others will do an exchange but usually want yours first. I'm looking for one to have as a spare. I've tried calling bike wreckers around Ontario but no luck. Are you out by Ottawa by chance?

No, them both will sell you one complete rewind stator, but you will have to pay more :)

Don't know if electex is the best idea ?? Sorry

i did reply but for some reason its not here now!
i can send out units and refund the difference when i receive the old unit.

cheers kris

We are pretty sure we found the issue with ours - for now. If i need to change it I will keep your emails in consideration.

As it turns out - there is a white wire from the CDi that was not connected - bike starts 1/4 turn with electric starter now.

Hi,

Give Dan at motoXotica a call if you still require a rewound stator, he stocks my rewound units.

Regards

Sparks.

I doubt anyone has ever had to be duty on my stuff. I'm a fabulous liar when it comes to the value of goods.

we have way more trouble when americans send their knackered one here. they tend to value them at $1,000 and then I have to pay duty just to get their old knackered one....

ah the injustice of it all.......

I have them in stock of course, don't use flea bay and I can do it for considerably less than the advertised price. say 220gbp posted and exchanged.

sorry if that is too much but I will stand by it for a year for you.

regards

Taffy
