Having never owned a 99 I am not sure about this and hope someone can help. If memory serves me correct 99 was the first year for the stator mounted in the cover. 2000 was the first year for all the Hi-Lo gizmos and talk about load sensing. Would a 99 ignition be a simpler and possibly more reliable replacement for 01-03 bergs? Will it fit?

Will It Fit: Yes

dale would the earlier ignitions work the ones that were mounted to the crankcases then the flywheel was put on covering them (just the stator fitted to a newer model on the ignition cover)

Hi Nzberg,
Unfortunately no as the stator winding and trigger points are different between internal and external flywheel models.

Kind Regards,
Dale
