Sealings or not in engine bearings?

I'm replacing some worn out bearings in my 501-Fe 2002 engine. This include camshaft bearings, counter balancer drive axel bearing and some gearbox bearings. When I bought the new bearings, the camshaft bearings and the bearing for the counter balancer drive shaft were double sealed but the former ones are without seals. In the parts manual for 2002 at least the counter balancer drive shaft bearing looks like a sealed one but not the camshaft bearings. Does it matter if they are sealed or nor or shall I remove the seal one one or both sides?

Regards

Christer

There is an upgrade from KTM on this I do not know why maybe cheaper bearings, the new one is from Asia old one was SKF. I have sealed bearing on my 600 on not on my 400 can not see any difference yet.

It shouldnt make a difference. I have used both and they seem to hold up the same.
With the sealed bearing at least you have some shielding from debris entering the bearing.

The counter balancer drive shaft has a Husaberg custom sealed bearing. This is necessary to seal the bottom end of the engine, otherwise the reed valve would not pump the excess oil out of the bottom end of the engine.

The cam bearings can be either sealed or without seals, your choice. IMHO there is good logic for both choices.

Best Regards,

Joe
