hi, whats the minimum possible electics i can get away with for an mot, bike is a 98 fc600 but has a 2000 engine in it with charging circuit in the (suspect  ) stator but do i need a battery? are the brake light and horn a "pass" if the engine has to be running for them to work?

i was thinking i can just wire them up to the regulator and that will do, daytime mot of course!

dont need incators do i? just use my leg!

if you have a day light only mot then you dont have to have any lights what so ever.

I've done the daylight MOT before, you don't need any lights mirrors or indicators but it can depend on your testing station. They made me tape up my lights that worked and I know some insist on a rear reflector.
You can also buy something called a mega horn which is loud enough and battery powered for a horn, although it may mysteriously come off the day after.

i thought a brake light was mandatory??, to be honest i would prefer to have one as well! i have to have a rear no plate so a brake lamp is no big problem really, finding a home for a battery is main concern.

hi i did my fe450 in the summer and they wanted a brake light but a mate who's a car tester say's there no need, so its down to the tester

just been looking on other forums and found a quote from the testers handbook saying only bikes which cannot exceed 25mph are exempt from a stop lamp, doupt i can convince the tester "it only does 24"!

i will put a stop lamp on, got to have a rear reflector to for some mad reason! but what i really want to know is if the horn and light only work with the engine running is this a fail? and can i just wire uo to the regulator and run with no battery at all?
