450 08 berg seems a handfull in soft wooped out mx track sand. Seems better when low fuel to make lighter....what suspension set up do people use? For example ktm two stoke front wheel stays planted in south sand turns but berg front moves around??

1) It is imparative that you spring the bike for your weight and have the proper sag.
2) 4 strokes corner differently than 2 strokes, especially in sand. You are going to want to power into and completely through the turn...always under powerand never chopping the throttle.

Just my 2 cents.

bergs chassis and front wheel loading/steering angle is V bad for whoops

beyond "normal dialing in" and setup likw incresaing oil level in forks, clickers etc some or all of following may help:

move steering head forward, raise shock top mount 10mm, run shortest possible swingarm length, increase rear sag, push forks down 3mm below top of tripples, stiffer fork springs like 0.54s :) ohlins TTX shock, bar raisers etc

the goal is to get the front and rear working together over the whoops, get someone to ride your bike and watch it side on. with stock valving the shock hardly moves and the forks blow through.... one end fights the other

even when the berg is well sorted and revalved a half sorted and revalved yz450 will run rings around the berg in whoops.

thanks for the feedback. On some wooped out hard sand single track the 450 seems to handle the woops better than some of my earlier bikes where the front and rear suspension was not as balanced. These woops are deep and in single track, but were handled very well and could take them in sets of three or four. On a motocross practice track with really soft sand I was in trouble. The fat tank means I can not grip the bike donw low, but have to grip the tank. When less than 5 litres of fuel things are a lot better. Doing everything I think is right the front or back not sure makes me think I can't control the bike. I intend to preload correctly the front forks and sort the back as suggested and then not back off in corners and see what happens.... the sand is soft. Riding these woops is a lot of fun and good excersise......when I rode a ktm 200 in the same place it was so easy i started looking up for the rider in front and did not think about riding..... I think it has something to do with 4 strokes being heavier? The real test will be if I get a chance to ride a ktm 4 stroke in the same spot. I think the not back of in corners will be my next try with the preloaded front suspension. I did increas rebound three clicks and that seemed to help quite bit. I need the 7.3 litre tank or the allow one for this sort of riding?

The 7.3L or Omero tank will help for MX. They are both pricy.
