According to Ann McGrath, the mother of supercross/motocross legend Jeremy McGrath, there is currently a movement underway in Riverside County (California) that will restrict those wanting to ride motorcycles on their own property.

The movement is apparently being pushed through the county planning office by a group of horse enthusiasts in the county, according to McGrath.

There will be a public hearing on the matter at the Riverside County Planning Office's ground floor on October 20. Those wishing to voice their feelings on the matter are encouraged to attend.

In addition, e-mails can be sent to Mark Balys, the deputy planning director who is working on the project, at [email protected]. For more information, visit www.tlma.co.riverside.ca.us/planning/pc/
2004/pc102004_agenda/pc102004.htm#4.16 4.16.

The proposal is to amend ordinance #348 which provides "development and siting standards for off highway vehicle usage within the unincorporated areas of Riverside County."

Stay tuned.

I hope we get a good turn out of riders.

So lets ban together and get horses banned on personal property. "Do unto others as they do unto you."

I second that.

Alright guys, let's ease up on horse owners. I have been on both sides of this fence. As a horse owner and a motorcycle enthusiast. I think it's absolutely ludicrous to try and ban motorcycles from private property. But you have to look at where you are located! California is not the countries hotbed for legitimate and well needed laws. Lets just take a glance at a couple that have passed recently. One is in San Francisco where it is now not against the law to practice yoga naked in the streets. And another is that it is now against the law to allow the hand weeding of agriculture crops because that is too much like work. How ridiculous are both of these?

Both motorcycle riders and horse riders should have plenty of places to ride without annoying one another. One of the best places to ride motorcycles in my area has now banned the use of OHV's because of the horse enthusiasts. I was not one of the many that opposed the OHV's. I on the other hand thought it was only fair that if you let one you should let the other ride.

In my opinion this all boils down to the government trying to control more and more of our everyday lives. You should all stand up and fight this if you live in Riverside county. It's a sad situation when the local government gets this nit picky about person and privately owned property. If I can ride horses and motorcycles on my property without causing problems, then I don't see why neighbors can get along.

If that crap was to happen in the South, the bitchy neighbors just might end up getting run out of the area!

I even take one of my horses to the local pub from time to time! I couldn't get the pic to load so I just put up my gallery. Check out the first pic.

I know quite a few people who does both. What burns me up is when others ban one for the sake of the other; which isn`t right. Most of them don`t care one way or the other and everybody gets along fine.It is always a few busybodies who like to mind everybodies elses business who cause all the trouble. As far as telling me what I can do on my own land.I guess I would have to show them the error of their ways  Excuse the rant but this touches a nerve with me.
