:) I've received the repaired stator, tested this weekend and....... it works fine. The man who have repaired it also supply a solenoid to prevent future failures. All for +- 100 USD delivery charges included.
You can see pictures of it on my gallery.

What is the name and address of the repair shop....nsman... thanks

Hello,

was it a molded SEM stator? Coils covered with epox? I have bad stator in my FC 550 02.

How long it took total?

Does this guy have a email?

Jarkko

Yes it was a molded SEM stator with coils covered by epoxy.
I don't know how the man remove that epoxy, but he do it for sure (se the pictures in my gallery)

it took about 2 weeks for the delivery to me.

is email address:
[email protected]

Regards

Thanks Husby for the info. With all the stator failures reported it is great to find sources of fixing them instead of a new replacement. If possible, can you come back to this thread after you have used it for a while & report how it is going?

It would be good if we could get more info on what this is, what types of failures it addresses & how it is supposed to work. If it can possibly help then great! If not then people need to know that too.

Hi Husby,
Looks to be a very good job and @ a bargain price as well.

I had a source in the US willing to do the same. Unfortunately they wanted to charge in excess of $250.00 USD for each unit.

Great information!
Thank you.

Kind Regards,
Dale

Thanks for the email address.

And the guy speaks english?

My angle is freaking pain, because of the bad stator....bloody SEM.

Jake

in the owners doc for next time! please keep the details here and don't start a new thread (if you could) please! if you have any valid tips such as his speaking of english? background? speed of delivery? is he a business? is there a warranty? fitment? what it looks like? change of wire colours? etc etc etc

regards

Taffy

Hi,

What has he actually done with the stator?
He must have done more than solely rewinding.
From the pics the winding looks a little different and the circuit board seems to be gone as well?
Is the power delivery unchanged as well?

That stator looks absolutely identical inside to the the one I wound out of the 4 stroke Husky. I submerged the whole stator in acetone. After each few days it would soften the outmost layer & you could carve that bit off fairly easily, then back in the acetone. Took about 1 or 2 weeks of soaking & scraping to get the potting off. That job would be much easier once you knew what was underneath & where not to scrape!

Does the circuit board in the 'Bergs normally have any components mounted on it? If so, it would be good to have a diagram of it in the archives somewhere. The circuit board in the Husky was only a termination point for the windings. and it was easier to leave it out.

It looks like all the wires coming out of the magneto coils are green? - probably so the bloke only needs to keep one spool of wire for all the different types of stators he does. (Mine were all black in very flexible high temp silicone wire.) Even though the wire colours have changed, it should not matter because he should have shrunk a short piece of heatshrink of the original wire colour over each new wire near its connector. If not, you could easily do that yourself.

Husby - does he propose or allow for any method to set the spark timing after the potting is removed? (is yours pre or post '99?) The pin slot in the potting is certainly used on pre'99s. Once the potting is removed so is the slot. You can get around it with some careful measurement, but it is a bit of a ***** & probably not as accurate as original.

Also, what it the green coil thingy in the top right corner of pic #3?.

That green thingy looks to me like a home made choke, an inductor!

I don't know. I think there was at least one diode or something on it. I only took a quick look before I gave it away. The winding between the coil which gives the ignition puls and the output power I do not recognize. I perhaps didn't uncovered enough to see it. I only noticed that it was possible to move the wires but only the thin ones. If they aren't fixed they will broke. It's only a matter of time.

Thought so too. If so, all it would help is noise from you mobile phone getting into the ignition!

husby what does the solenoid do to prevent future failures how is it connected to the ignition system
