I've heard that when re-closing the left cover, is very hard to keep the kickstarter spring in its place. a friend of mine lost hours trying to close the engine. any suggestion?

ps: i want to remove the cover to check the wear condition of the primary gear because of the rising engine whistling (my mechanic used a 2005 gear on my 2006 engine)

You just need to hold the kick start shaft steady when you pull off the cover. The shaft wants to move out along with the cover when you remove it, and that is what causes the problem.

Another set of hands to hold the kick start shaft while you get the cover loose is best. One person can do it, but you have to be careful.

the kickstart shaf is where the kickstart lever hang in?
do i have to keep it pulled towards the engine while removing the carter?

Yes,

I will push on the shaft with my thumb whilst removing the cover.
