Hey guys, does anyone know if Regina camchains are any good? I know its a little late to be asking (because I've ordered it already). Dan at Motoexotica told me that they are good, I'm just double checking before I start putting it in. I Googled the brand and it seems to have good reviews.

Thanks,

Eric

well they're fine eric. we'd heard that they've stopped producion of chain but you needn't worry because it doesn't matter does it?

the OEMchain is now D.I.D which is considered by reputation to be better. but as i say - reputation.

I could swear I saw an add in the current edition of Dirt rider for Regina Chain....

Eric, if Dan Pointed you in that direction, I would trust it. He won't knowing lead you astray.

RE: Re: RE: Regina camchains?

My understanding is that Regina is no longer making cam chains. they do still however make motorcycle drive chain.
I have a regina cam chain in my 03 400 engine and it has outlasted the original chain (JWS or IWS I believe) 2 to 1 and there is still 8 notches left on the cam chain adjuster (checked yesterday).

Hey thanks guys. it sounds like I don't have anything to worry about. I'll just put it in and go! I can't wait to be back riding again (its been a long winter).

RE: Re: RE: Regina camchains?

As an update on my bike (2000 fc501), I installed current spec steel cam sproket and Regina Camchain, everything went together without a hitch. I did have a coolant leak coming from the water pump cover, but that was attributed to a couple of loose bolts. I should have replaced the pump seal and o-rings, but didn't and everything still seems to be holding up fine. To date I have put about 40hrs on the new parts and have been very satisfied. The next time I redo the camchain and sprocket I will attempt a conversion to the later model style of chain tensioner, as well as update the rocker arm stuff It looks to me like with some precisely drilled holes, a few small parts and a bit of ingenuity a conversion from the lower mounted flat chain tensioner to the higher arched superior late-model design could be easily done. Until then I am enjoying the ride!

hey risky

if you know better let us know. i just saw it here and that don't mean nuttin!

eric

thanks for the feedback mate good to hear of a happy ending. i personally really don't know what updates from the last of the early models through to the new ones (2000 to 2001) so if you're right it sounds like the engines are progressive. joe can put us right i hope as usual!
