Hi all
So this is my first thread on the site (so plz be nice)
I have spent the last 2.5hrs looking for this answer and i just cant find it, on here or in the manual or even with a search engine.

Can anyone tell me what the redline RPM is on the FE 650e 2004?

I have just finished the 3 things I really wanted for it
1) Tacho (but its not much good not knowing what red is)
2) Temp guage
3) Pillion pegs

This is my first dirt bike, so i am defiantly not good enough to just wind it out and see where that tacho stops (im sure someone was gonna say that :)
as most of you would know, these things can go

thanks

Gday mate, welcome from another newby.

Pretty keen on knowing the redline meself, but im still learning to ride mine, only been out a couple of times, but, even going nowhere near whatever the red line is, crikey, hang on. Where did you get, and mount the tacko.

I ride sand mostly, really hard stuff, didn't bother with temp gauge, just fitted a thermo.

Pegs, in the manual it says the bike is not designed for two people, 1 only.

your call

I first bought a cheap made in china one, but it was pretty ugly n ended up not even working. (get what you pay for i guess)

I ended up going with TTO (trail master) nice and small and got the optional bar mounts.

yeah with the pegs, i talked to the ktm dealer, and they said it will be ok if you use common sense.
Its only to take be able to take to GF on the bike if we go to the shops, or a trail ride in the state forest (n she is supa light). have used them twice now (outta the 5 times i have ridden the bike [about 10km all up]) and seems fine.

Since replying, I remember a post here where someone was saying 8,000rpm is limit, 7,500 is good, sort of don't go over.

That set up you have looks sweet, where is the pick up hooked to ?

They are battery operated, so no messing around with running power wires :)
tacho wire just wraps around the outside of the spark plug cable, and I just put heat shrink over it to make it look ok.
The temp has just got a 19mm sensor that you cut the radiator hose, and put it between that.

I was abit concerned with the 'wrap around' tacho. but it seems to actually be really good. Picks up even when i just kick start it (and it doesnt start). so happy so far.

1st decent size ride 2day :)
and the battery died on me and i could not start the thing without pushing it afew km to find a massive hill to clutch it GGGRRRRRRR

5000rpm 2 do 90km/h seems pretty high 2 me
does that sound right???

Great thanks Oldman

Looks like im a good 1000rpm over what it should be, so ill do some counting n c if its a still set up stock, if it is. time to play with tach settings
