I am in the process of having a Recluse put in my '03 501. I have rode a bike with a Recluse before and know what to generally expect. Is there anything specific to having one in my 'berg that I need to know about?
Just FYI for anyone with a 550 or 650 'Berg--I visited on the phone with the guys from Recluse about an auto clutch for my 550. They no longer recommend their clutch for these bikes. The upper limit for Husabergs are the 501's.
They said their clutch does not generate enough clamping force to work properly on the big Husabergs. To bad, I was ready to buy one after riding my buddy's KTM 300 w/ Recluse.
I second that the rekluse does not work with 550's.I tried to get it to work well on mine and could not get it set right. if any of you with smaller displacement bikes want one, send me a PM
Thanks for all the info and the redirect to the link. After reading all different points of view:
I plan in keeping the clutch lever. I like to have the option to pull it in and slow the motor down so the recluse will then freewheel. In my short time riding, motor braking on a down hill is only for the most extreme hills.
I already experience engine creep when my bike is cold. Keeping the lever will help with this issue.
I didn't know my bike had neutral once it started moving. I am looking foreword to not spending my entire time on a downhill looking for neutral.
I do think that two hand brakes would make for a faster rider, however, speed isn't everything in the Idaho singletrack.
So I'm pissed, no Recluse for '03s. The guys worked on my bike for quite some time and even had some cats from Recluse come take a look. No go. I'm bummed. What about revloc? I need to go back and read those 9 pages again. Taffy, direct me.
Not ever seeing the inside of my case, can you put an 04 clutch in an 03, or even an 02 in an 03? I'm told the 03 is a 'tweener with clutch parts from both an 02 and an 04.
you need to talk to ken (berger) as he has fitted an old one and a new one. shame you didn't do the work as we could have been looking at some photos now and could be directing you along.....
