Just installed a Recluse Auto Clutch in a '96 FC 501.
Everything seems to be installed fine except that it has affected the shifting to where it is very "notchy". It does shift though.
Has anyone had this experience?
Thanks, Chuck

i've not had this on my '02. tried many ways as well.

all i can suggest with the info provided is that you may have the ratio of tungsten balls out and too much on the springs or the gap to go with it.

i did a very long thread on the rekluse so if you put taffy as the author and do a search you may pick the bones to see if anything helps.

let us know.

regards

Taffy

At what RPM does the clutch engage?? Is there any creep??

clutch engages just above idle there is no creep its shifting better with time . i am going to buy reklus cable clutch mechanism to be able to use lever . i like the rekluse it looks like the anti stall devie i need .,thanks

before you installed the rekluse, did you shift with or without the clutch? the only time i feel the autoclutch interfering with shifting is at very low speeds. once you are above 2000 rpms or so, the clutch is supposed to be a solid drive and shouldn't be any different than a manual clutch.
if you previously used the clutch to shift, it will have a different feel, and to make it easier, you need to rock the throttle when you shift to take the tension off of the transmission shift dogs and allow the gear to slide easier. most engines with significant rotating mass tend to be harder to shift w/o a clutch.
