How many of you need to make an adjustment after 20 hours? I set mine, been on 3 good rides for about 15 hours total then couldn't get my bike started again when I got home. Sure enough, the exhaust valves were a bit tight, so I reset them and BAM, first kick start.

Is this a sign of headwork in my berg future? The guy I bought it from said he had some head work done less than a year ago (I've had it about 4 months now).

I know the book says "inspect" at 20 hours, is it normal to need an adjustment too? Thanks guys.

When I spend time at the MX track only I need to adjust every 10 hour. Normally, when I go in the forest I don't have the problem that the valves become tight.

I would guess that you have tuliping and probably need to do some cylinder head work in the future. When I don't know. Have never had that problem before.

I bought my bike (02 FC470E) with 25 hours on it, previous owner rode MX- he was very meticulous in maintenance, (showed by condition of bike) he inspected valves every oil change- Never had to adjust. I have put about 35-40 hours on it and have done the same- valves have always been right on. Never needed to be adjusted. bike fires up first hit of button when warm, 2-3 kick when cold.

My 98 FE501 had the valve seats disintegrate early in its life. The prelude was ultimately the need to adjust them every ride. New valve seats, and piston, and basically no need to adjust in the last 300 hours. A sanity check every 20 or 30 and by using the 1/8 turn method an inspection in effect constitutes an adjustment. Loose valves on the other hand suggest a roller follower problem is in train.

Depending on how hard u use the bike after the initial break in period the valve clearances should only need adjustment when she starts getting difficult to fire up. This could be after or near to 20 hours or it could be after 40 hours it really is hard to say.

I would say that Husaberg print overly frequent service intervals just in case (they want to avoid mass failures in the field)
