Re-Gear 570using stock chain

Just curious if anyone has re-geared their fe 570 while keeping the stock chain. I put a 13 on the front and have the axle back almost all the way now. Anyone know how many teeth I can go up from a 42 and still use the same chain? I am trying to not spend to much on the bike right now and keep the wife happy.

I think a 44 or 45 would work with the same chain, and leave a little room in the front of the axle.

Speculation of course.

why not push the sprocket forwards as far as it will go and try and gather chain like a skin on top of the sprocket? the more chain you can gather the more teeth you can add.

My stock chain lasted 4 weeks you must be getting a good run out of yours

Going from a 40 to a 45 required a chain two links longer.

Update: Started with stock gearing 14/42. Axle in the middle of adjustment. I was able to change gearing to a 13/45. Have a little adjustment left, but not enough to go any bigger in the back.
