First frosty ride on a Berg this morning and it cut out. approx minus 2 degrees Celsius
The bike started up great at the car park, idled and was off choke before I rode off. 2 miles down the road I turned off the main road and it cut out. It restarts then cuts out immediately,I repeated this several times. Then pulled the fuel tank cap off in case there was a vacuum. - No Good.
Opened the carb plug and had petrol running out - No Good
In the end the bike restarted and I turned the idle right up and was able to start the ride.
It ran a bit rough for a while then settled down and I was able to return the idle to normal.

A hour later I ride through some icy water that was over the front wheel deep . I rode through Ok but 10 yards from the hole the bike cut out. Exactly the same as before it would start then cut out.

Has anyone had this problem and is there a cure.

well the second problem would be the breather pipes getting blocked in the water I suggest.

when a bike completely misses a beat and continues it means it is rich.

try the PS under the carb in half a turn next time.

how long do you need on choke eddy?

regards

Taffy

Choke needs to be on for a while before it will run OK.

The breather pipes have all been routed high up out of the way and I have not had problems going through deep water before. I have had the fault with breather pipes blocking on other bikes and it disappears once out of the water. This did not and took a long time before the bike would run and then only with a high tick over. When I was able to pull away I avoided all the deep water until later in the day.

From then on it completed the day without any further glitches and ran really well.

It all points to carb icing but I have been surprised searching this site to see very little mention of it. Loads on other sites about the DRZ and CRF

This means that there is something different about the set up on my bike or that other Husabergs are not used in the cold.
