G'day.
On my latest 450 I have no idea of the work it has done. Its a very early Sept 03 build bike, the last owner was using it for commuting around the city (appropriate....!) & only had it for 5 months. I have changed oils, set valves etc & it all sounds strong but its that niggly voice in my head that says somethings up.
Do I remove valve covers or the head totally? Where should I start to inspect & what?
Thanks & excuse my ignorance.

If the oil, filter, screen and magnet all looked clean, I say ride it. Put a few hours on it and have a look again at all of the above. Take the oil filter apart and inspect it for excessive debris.
If you have never delt with a berg before, you will learn.....they are noisy *******s. Unless something really comes loose or gets out of hand the only real way to monitor there over all well being is to keep an eye on the oil, filter, screen and magnet.

Just my opinion.

MEH my purrs like a little kitten :p, i have owned a moore noisy 125cc then my 501fe -99.

tho it has alto of loose part klanking agains something when idling, exhaust, radiator, you name it... i would chek the exterior of the engine/bike before ripping the engine apart, and if you have a skilled mechanic in your neighbourhood let him listen to it he will immidiatley spot the origin of the sound/noice and tell you if its harmfull or not.

If in doubt whip the head off and have a look, new cam chain and gaskets at least. One mans death rattle is another mans healthy Husaberg!

Better safe than sorry.

Thanks. This one seems quiet actually so I will keep riding for a while longer, maybe do a cam chain later in the year.
I have had a few Bergs so am used to the noises its just that this one is my 1st 2nd hand one so am being careful.
