There are a lot of fan's here of the FE400. The 400's seemed to hold up best out of all the 01-03 bikes. The 03 should have most of the updates done. The biggest weak link would probably be the stator. Send it out to sparks for a rewind and you should be good to go.

I have an '03 400 and love it. Just over 200 hrs and still going strong. Planning a motor re-build this winter (hope it makes it through this season). Makes an excellent woods weapon. The motor makes great power (mid 40's I believe) and its fairly light with top notch suspension. My upgrades have been a suspension re-build, FCR carb, and a steering damper. It's a very capable machine and way better at this stuff than me :roll:
