Hi there!

Is there a possibility to take out the valve guides without damaging them?
I want to polish the Cylinder-head, but have no time to get new guides, as the berg should be back to bussiness next weekend...

So i want to take the guides out, polish, and put them back in. Possible?

Anything else i should now about porting or polishing the intake of the head?

Greets, Leon

When Mr Iddon raced Husaberg's his tuner used to removed the valve guides flush with the port wall.

Also they installed larger exhaust valves oversize by a 1mm in diameter.

The 2003 cylinder head is better than the 2002 one.

Removing and installing valve guides is usually a specialist job for special tools. How are you going to remove them ?

Lloyd.

Thx for the Info S.H.!
Mr Iddon could shurly afford to replace the guides every two races?
I guess service interval shortened pretty much?

Hmm i would like to keep the original length of the guides, unless someone can assure me that maintainance will be the same...

Just want to polish a little, major porting-actions will be done in deep winter, if ever :D

If you remove the guides along the top of the port, the life of the guides and valve stems would be drastically reduced. When these start to wear, the valve seats also go which means frequent overhauls. Bad idea!

However, it is possible to put the guides in a lathe, and reduce them. I do not know how the guides in question look, but this might be helpful. Normally this is not the bottle neck.

Unless you have prior Husaberg experience and / or access to a flow bench you are far more likely to reduce performance than enhance it.

The limiting flow restriction is primarily as a result of the exhaust valves and air-box boot.

If you are still so inclined to remove the guides please install new ones and perform a complete valve job to insure concentric valve seating.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Dale

Thx Dale!

Ive already finished my Monstertuning ( ), i did not remove the guides, just worked around them.
As expected, not much has changed, the Berg runs as good as before...

Ok, just wanted to try it, now i know it :D

Greets!
