Hi,
In an effort to fit 100mm piston in the place of 92 mm,I had the reconditioner made a bush for bigger 20mm pin but when I got back to him to got the new stuff I realized he had made it out of brass instead of bronze.I am not happy with that.what do you think about brass piston pin bush?

but you can buy the bushes off the shelf at husaberg? if it's a 400 it is 18ID and 22OD. if it's anything else it's 20ID and 22OD and be donew with it?

regards

Taffy

then what is the part# for 20mm ID piston pin bush? I already searched for it but I couldn't find the part #

if he is a good engine builder, tell him to bore the crank top hole 1mm oversizee, and make a 23mm O/D bush. I think the bronze I used was NES833.

hi grasstrackpete,
how did your NES833 bush perform?

what do others think about a proper bronze alloy for gudgeon pin bush?al-copper,copper-tin,copper-zinc-tin or others?maybe standardized names?I have to sort it out this week..

RE: Re: RE: Piston pin

it works just great, you dont want too much zinc in a different metal/metal bearing surface

Little end bush – 18mm (400 only) 210 174 01
Little end bush – 20mm 210 175 01

Thank you Taffy but I can't get the parts before '04 online this is why I did not check early parts catalog.and it takes a month for any part to arrive when ordered via my dealer.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Piston pin

does anyone have this 20mm bush at hand and willing to sell it?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Piston pin

is it possible to bore the existing 18mm ID bush to 20mm?what about outer interference fit when the bush is very thin at 20mm ID

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Piston pin

yes the bush is thin and you can reem them out. you want the little end bush to be in the rod when it's done.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Piston pin

when you finish reeming the bush it is thin. i agree - but it is ok. please make sure the reeming is done with the bush in the rod.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Piston pin

The answer is no, especially for hand reaming, you can change properties by shear load endured during reaming, and 2mm is wayyyy to much to even think about going at with a reaming tool. It needs sedding up with a boring mill in a rock-steady machine vice, packed correctly and within 0.01 on the Z (up and down) axis, you then need to go in at high speed with loads of coolant, then use a finish hone. either buy the proper bush, or take it to a proper motor engineering shop to machine out, otherwise you will be taking it to bits to repair again in less than the month that the proper part will take to get here. AND BRASS IS NO GOOD!!! ITS TOO SOFT!
