To make a point and make the brand famous, we should challenge a Harley on the Pinks! show on Speed channel.

Just imagine a straight out of the box FS650e smoking a Twin Harley Sportster...

What's to imagine. I've done it many times. No big deal!! I like smokin' the muscle cars.

Wrong demographic profile. :(
IE Excessive plastic and not enough chrome.

For the most part owning a Harley Davidson has little to do with performance and / or handling.

Not enough chrome? Easily rectified :)

That Car......A Chrome 'berg....Thnink I'm Gonna Be Sick :x :x

Dale knows, the reason they chrome 'em, is so you can find 'em on the side of the road easier!

Well, of course, if it's Jim Carr... I guess we should ask for a few lengths...

Sir Dale, with all due respect (and a lot is due....) an XR750 Harley is a about as close to a production Harley as my RC51 is to Nicki Haydens (or Bostroms!) Like the saying goes "if Harley made airplanes, would YOU fly in one?" (granted, I dont think I'd fly Husaberg airlines either!) But IF I had one you'd be the guy to put it right (ass kissing finished 'till further notice....) :D

Rocky,
Believe it or not:
The XR 750 was available as a "limited production" motorcycle through 1980.

I purchased My 1980 XR 750 in half mile (Junior) trim brand new.

As described said motorcycle produced a respectable 75 "DynoJet" RWHP @ 7800 rpm on pump fuel.

Power delivery is linear and very predictable with the XR.

The massive crankshaft does take a bit of time to wind up, however, it would be tough to out do even a stock XR with a Husaberg single. (1/4 mile and up of course)

Would I actually wager my XR in a race? No way! Not even against a jogger as the XR 750 engine has been known to self destruct without warning and for no apparent reason.

Hope you are well.

Best Regards,
Dale

Which on is lighter?

I still think the 650e in SM trim has its chances against anything stock Harley.

The Husaberg is 80 plus pounds lighter!
However, all else remaining equal the Harley is easier to ride fast in a straight line. :D

A V-Rod with Vance pipes and reprogrammed fuel delivery will run in the 11's. Not sure if I want to wager my Berg there, but bring on the Fat Boy!

I said: off the box, totally stock, no performance part. Pump or race gas, I think the FS650e would smoke anything H-D stock.

I'm not sure if your post was motivated due to the Pinks!! episode last night with the Vrod and the mid 80 GS1150 Zook, but I had the thought that the Harley 'dude' was going to loose, and loose bad. But hey I was wrong. I caught it mid episode and got shocked. That Vrod hauled!!!

I have no idea how the berg would do, but Dale, which would be faster, the modded Harley or the modded berg when you were finished?

Here is my V-Rod tale!

Experienced about 3 and a half years ago.
So, I’m on the way home after a great scoot with a friend, as I sit at a stoplight, a V-Rod turns in front of me. The light turns green and I zip off in search of a closer look. I see him take the ramp onto the freeway and I juice it up some more and turn on the freeway too. I have a completely clear lane and pace him comfortably (about 140 kmh) and enjoy the “V-Rod-Knob Showâ€Â

And if you want to drag with a Vrod you need to
convert it to chain drive or break belts. You have
to admit though, they did a good job of copying
Japanese motor technology.
We took a CR500 with a street tire and taller
gearing to Martin dragway years ago and it's
best time was 12.10.It was hard keeping the
frontend down and would have went 11s with
a bar for sure.I have done a lot of street racing
in the last 33 years and have never witnessed a
race for pinks.Bunches of money yes,but most
serious racers would not want their speed secrets
and pride and joy in someone elses hands.Only
in Hollywood.
