Hi everyone. I just finished having my motor rebuilt by Craig Hanson of Hanson Racing Technology. Helping him in his shop was awesome if a bit difficult. Anyway, I get more and more afraid that my berg will blow up and there will be no parts out there. Still, I am seriously lacking in motor understanding or skill. So, I had something fall in my lap (so to speak) and decided I should build another motor as finances allow. My first step was this purchase:

2004 FE650 Cases OEM and never assembled (got'em cheap):

I have a used 2005 628 Crank, Rod and Piston. I'm going to balance the crank and replace the main bearing that is in it (I've read on here they are problematic). It's going to be the "How an ***** built a motor from the advice of the UHE". It will go slow due to finances. But, I'm pretty excited!!

Awesome Goose

looking forward to the pictures

FWIW it will be much easier if you try and stick to engine parts from the same era

I found just about everything didn't quite fit properly 02-06 when i did mine, even the blooday headers needed altering because of the different head

Hi Goose,
Like Bushie says try to keep the parts from the same M.Y., because i had some difficulties to concerning that!
About skills it's learning process, so i think you've got the right "learning"material:D
Lots of fun building this engine.

How cheap? $115 shipped. Hell, I could make a lamp out of it and still be happy at that price. I'm trying to scrounge up other parts as finances permit. Got a Oem flywheel still in the box pretty cheap too. So, I now have a crank, rod, cases and flywheel. Ummm, it's a long way to go. Will update periodically.

115 shipped! What a deal! Looking forward to the build.
