Joined your ranks recently, got me a 99 FE 400. Been workin so much, haven't had much time to ride. She seems pretty sweet, low miles and all that. Previous owner told me about 75mi. and that valve insp was just done. Only rode twice so far, following my kids around in the woods for a short bit each time. Startings been a little tuff but I think I'm gettin the hang.
A couple questions if someone would be so kind.
I'm about to change the oil, Delo 400 15-40 is that right?
Clean the screen behind the drain plug - Anything special? or will kerosene do?
anything else I should know?
The oil filter and oil was changed right before I got it. Got a spare filter with the bike thought I'd use it next time.
Oh and with the choke position on the carb, I know the choke is on when the arm is straight up and off at 90 degrees, is there a 3rd position if you push the arm down (about 45 degrees) mine will snap down to this position if pushed down, thats not the off position is it?
I rode for about 15 years and took about a ten year break to have kids and stuff, now theyre riding and I've got the fever again (Lord hep me)
I always had 2 strokes , so I really appreciate you guys being here. Forgive me if I ask some dumb questions.
LOVE the BERG 8O - lookin forward to riding this weekend

Delo should be just fine. When you clean the screen be carefull of the little o-ring seals. They seem to get brittle if you use solvent or carb cleaner on them.
I cant help you with the choke setting. It is warm enough here I dont need the choke at all yet usually.

Hi Bif,

be welcome here to this site. Nice to hear about you and you´ve chosen
a Husaberg.
The choke has only got 2 positions. It´s quite right what you said.
The screen you can clean easily with compressed air. Tha´t works quite good.
I don´t know delo oil, but from the Americans I heard that they´re using it.
I wish you much fun with your new Berg.
Where you come from? Maybe you can put some more details in your signature, if you like.

best regards

hribman
