Hey,

Looking through the owners doc, Dale had recomended Chevron Delo 400----is there a motor cycle version of Delo 400 or is the 15w-40 diesel Delo 400? The diesel oil was the only I knew about----it would be great if it is---readily availible and cheap. I already use it in all my cars and trucks. Of course none of my vehicles use a catalitic convetor, making it o-k.

thanks,

FE,

You have thought correctly pertaining to the Dello 400 diesel oil. The 15W-40 is what many people have taken up due to its low cost and availability. At ~$7 a gallon you can afford to change it every ride and it does its duties well. I have been running it for over two years and have had no problems what-so-ever. In the end it will be your call to make but by changing it every ride you ensure fresh new oil circulation for less than $2.50. Also, the Shell Rotella brand has been suggested as being equal to the Chevron Dello 400 just in case you wanted to know. There are many threads on this topic in the archives if you care to search them for yourself.

Awesome, that is one of the best things I have heard lately. There is an oil forum online that a friend of mine got pretty involved wih. People from the forum send in samples of all different oils to a labratory to be tested which would show a break down of the contents and the amounts. By now, probably every oil out there has been tested and results posted on this forum. It was said that Delo 400 had the most amount of moly and zinc compared to all the other diesel oils. If I remember correctly, it is the high zinc content that makes the diesel oil unsuitable for use in gas engines with catalytic convertors. But the zinc really helps as an anti-wear item.
I haven't looked at that oil forum, but if you guys are interested, I will get the link from my friend.

Dale Lineaweaver is one of the site guru's and with his extensive engineering experience in testing and development, not to mention a one time employee of Cheveron Research, has passed on his knowledge to the masses for us the users of the site to benefit from. The link I provided is one of many threads on this topic however some may have been lost over the years due to server problems. Hope this will help you in your search for answers.

Wow, is there any aspect of a Husaberg or anything related that has not yet been discussed?

Everything has been talked about at least 5x with the exception of the rubber pad that goes over the bar clamps..... that has never been talked about........

Actually...

Actually Keith, there's a thread in the archives we're working on concerning that pad. Replacement and aftermarket availability

Shucks, thought I had thought up something not discussed before! How about the do-dad connected to the shermer-shermer on the swing arm? You know, that one little bolt on the right/underneath side of the swing arm that nothing connects to, that cannot of possibly been talked about before!!!

you got me...

ok, I think you may have us there. I'll start a thread on it. ;)

I seem to recall that the Delo was not recommened anymore due to the new blend having adverse effects on the clutch. Am I right??

Wrong thank goodness! The amount of moly-disulphide in the oil is negligable IMHO.

I have used it over 2000 miles on my 2000 Berg (0ver 10,000 miles total) with no adverse clutch problem and am now using it on my 04 also.
